Birth Care

Birth Doula

If you are looking to feel cared for and supported through your pregnancy and birth, with continuity of care from someone who puts you at the centre of your birth experience, I am here to provide that.

During our three antenatal sessions we will get to know each other, so that you feel comfortable and I can learn all about you. I will provide information and signposting so that you can make an informed birth plan that protects your autonomy and stacks the odds in your favour of having an experience you are happy with. I will also support you to craft a plan for your postnatal time that will prioritise your recovery, mental health, and parenting values.

From week 38 of your pregnancy I will be on call to attend your birth. This means that when it is time for your baby to arrive and you want my support I will come to you, and stay with you until your baby is born and you are settled together. You will know that someone you know and trust will be by your side. While we are waiting for your baby to arrive we will have regular catch ups and I will be available to you over the phone and via whatsapp.

After your birth we will have three postnatal sessions where I will support your recovery from birth and transition into your new parenting life. This may include emotional care, light household tasks, and support with infant care. As an experienced breastfeeding supporter I can offer specialised services in this area. If you would like your postnatal care to go on for longer you can add extra time on top of this.

This birth care package costs £1800 plus travel expenses. Payment plans are available, and I am delighted to offer a discount to neurodivergent or LGBTQI+ families.

Postnatal Care

Everyone deserves to feel nurtured and supported after having a baby. I provide bespoke care to protect your postnatal bubble, so that you can focus on your own recovery and finding your feet as a family. This will always include emotional support, as you go through this time of change. My care is trauma informed and It might also include care such as preparing food for you and light housework to keep you nourished and your environment sustaining. You will have access to me via whatsapp, and you will know that a familiar trusted person will be coming to care for you. As an experienced breastfeeding supporter I can provide this kind of specialised care in your home and at your convenience.

Postnatal care is available as an initial booking of ten hours for £350, with the option to add more hours on top, or later. Visits are usually two hours.

Other Services

Birth and Postnatal Planning Five hours of time spread across two sessions where I can support you in developing your own birth and postnatal plan. This includes planning resources provided by me. With your NHS midwife you will have a short appointment to discuss your birth choices at your 36 week appointment, but this service gives you the time to explore your options in depth, as well as access to my wealth of knowledge and resources to help you make the most informed decision you can. Birth planning is not about deciding what will happen on the day your baby is born, but about getting informed about what might happen, informing yourself about what your options are in different circumstances, and thinking about the decisions you might like to make in advance. Postnatal planning is a great exercise in looking at how life might look after your baby is born, what is important to you, and how you might plan this time to make sure you have the best experience. This service costs £300.

KGHypnobirthing This is a taught course which will prepare you for birth and equip you with essential tools to stack the odds in your favour of having the experience you want. I am a fully qualified hypnobirthing teacher with Katharine Graves Hypnobirthing. I offer a complete hypnobirthing course provided in your own home over 4 sessions. This means that you can schedule it at your own convenience, and have my undivided attention. You will receive a workbook to use through the course, the KGHypnobirthing book, and audio recordings to listen to in your own time, This course costs £400. You can find out more about KGHypnobirthing here.

Other Care Doula services can be very flexible. Your baby doesn’t have to be a newborn either! Going away for a weekend and leaving your partner with the kids? Your loved one is poorly and you live too far away to offer support? A doula can step into the breach and provide practical and emotional support. If you have already been my client one-off overnight care can be provided to get you a good night’s sleep when you need it. I can also be available to accompany you to appointments when you might need support. My hourly rate of £38 (£35 for existing clients) plus travel expenses applies in these cases.
